Welcome House
Welcome House is a relaxed weekly community afternoon — a shared meal, games, and face-to-face conversation. Everyone is welcome, regardless of background or religion.
Sharing food, sharing life
Welcome House is about simple things that matter: kindness, conversation, and community. People come together, enjoy a meal, play games, have a laugh, and build real friendships.
You can join in as much or as little as you want — sit quietly, have a chat, play a game, or just enjoy being around people.
Welcome House is here for the whole community. No one is judged. No one is excluded.

Oavo’s message
A personal note from someone who found Welcome House through the community.
I found St Catherine’s because a Big Green Week leaflet came through my door — and I’m glad it did. I started helping with the community bits, then I came to Welcome House… and honestly, it has been amazing for me.
I never used to get out much or mingle face-to-face — but this place helped change that. I’ve met so many welcoming, interesting people, and it’s given me a real sense of community.
I also want to give a proper shout-out to Judy and Cathy. They put the food on, they organise the session, and they do it with kindness and consistency week after week. That takes time, effort, and heart — and it matters more than people realise.
Thank you, Judy and Cathy — and thank you to everyone at Welcome House for making people feel welcome from day one.
— Oavo
Why it works
Welcome House is simple, but powerful: food, games, and conversation in a safe and welcoming setting. It helps people who might feel isolated to connect again — naturally, at their own pace.
Volunteer team: a small group of kind people doing consistent, real-world care.
