Part of the Church of England • Serving Tranmere

A Church for the whole parish of Tranmere

St Catherine’s is part of the Church of England, serving the parish of Tranmere through worship, welcome, and community care.

We are a local church for local people — a place where faith is lived quietly and openly, where questions are welcome, and where people from many different backgrounds are met with kindness.

Whether you are exploring faith, returning after time away, or simply looking for a place of welcome, you are very welcome here.

You are welcome here

Plain-English welcome, calm and genuine — for everyone in the parish.

People arrive at St Catherine’s in many different ways.

Some come with a strong faith, some with questions, and some simply looking for a quiet space or a sense of community. You do not need to know what to do, what to say, or what to believe before you come.

You are welcome to take part, to sit quietly, or simply to be present — at your own pace.

From the people of St Catherine’s.

Diversity & belonging

Different backgrounds. Same welcome. Respect is the standard here.

A simple promise

At St Catherine’s, you don’t need to “fit a type” to belong. People arrive in many different ways — with faith, questions, or simply needing community. We welcome everyone with kindness and dignity.

If you’re nervous, that’s okay. You can come quietly, sit near the back, and take it at your own pace.

Voices from the community

Open Church — Tuesdays, 12am–2pm
During the week the church is open as a quiet and welcoming space for prayer, reflection, or simply to sit for a while. There is always a friendly presence and no expectation to take part in anything.

Sharing food, sharing life

Community is at the heart of St Catherine’s — practical support, friendship, and face-to-face connection.

Food bank

We run a food bank, offering free food for anyone in need across the Wirral. There is no judgement, no requirement, and no expectation — just practical support offered with dignity.

Welcome House — Wednesdays, 1–3pm

On Wednesdays we host Welcome House — a shared meal, games, and face-to-face conversation. It is a relaxed and friendly space where people come together, enjoy one another’s company, and build genuine community.

Many friendships begin around the table.

Caring for our shared home

Creation care, community action, and gardens that are lovingly looked after.

Caring for creation and for our local area is part of how we live out our faith.

St Catherine’s has been recognised with a Silver Eco Church award, reflecting a long-term commitment to caring for the environment. Our church gardens are lovingly looked after and enjoyed by the wider community.

We also take part in Big Green Week, joining with others across the Wirral and beyond for litter picks, nature walks, and community events — bringing people together to care for the place we share.

Gardens & local pride

If we add photos later, this becomes a highlight that locals share — the gardens, the people, and the community spirit.
