Eco & Gardens — and how to volunteer

St Caths is a Church of England church serving the parish of Tranmere — and caring for people and place sits right at the heart of what we do.

Why this matters

Caring for creation is not “extra” — it’s a practical way of loving our neighbours and looking after the place we share. Our gardens are part of our welcome: people stop, look, chat, breathe, and feel a little bit more at home.

Quick highlights

Our gardens

A place of colour, calm, and conversation — looked after with care by a small team of volunteers.

More than “just a garden”

When a garden is cared for, it tells the neighbourhood: “You matter. This place matters.” It invites people to pause, chat, and feel welcome — even if they’ve never been inside the church before.

Garden moments we love:
strangers becoming neighbours • kids spotting wildlife • community chats in the sunshine • the peace of a tidy path

Typical jobs

  • Weeding, pruning, planting
  • Tidy-ups and seasonal care
  • Paths, borders, and general upkeep
  • Small improvements and creative touches
