By Oavo — the cheeky window cleaner

Hi Wirral community, today’s story is about a special day where I felt like Lancelot with all my merry knights around a round table : ). It started about a month before the meeting of knights.

A community helper friend of mine (I have developed quite a lot of community helper friends over the last 2 years hehe). Anyways, she asked me to attend a meeting of very high importance on the Wirral.

I knew I had to attend the meeting to help my confidence when speaking in a group and I love to test myself. This test was by far the highest test I can try at this stage of my journey for speaking to a like-minded audience!

🚪 Meet “Open Doors”

I will call my community helper friend “Open Doors”. Well, Open Doors lives up to her name as each time she has invited me to a similar meeting, I always get a new door opened for me to help my community efforts on my website hehe :). Today’s door was special and very reuniting!

I entered the building where the meeting was and the room was already fullish with Open Doors talking to 2 people either side of her sitting down. So I sat down and immediately said “hi Open Doors” “hi DetermoQueen” — this is another nickname because Open Doors was sitting next to someone I knew, we both knew each other from school.

So DetermoQueen had seen the very cheeky side of oavo — so cheeky in school I made the Wirral Globe and won for equal rights and also national papers! I will leave this for another story! (Little tiny piece national but whole front page of the Globe ha).

👑 Reunited With DetermoQueen

It was so fortunate I got to sit next to DetermoQueen as she made me feel at ease with her caring nature. I said “do you know Open Doors?” she said “nope” so I told her how amazing Open Doors is, and then we reminisced a lot about school and how life has treated us.

That’s when she started to talk about her foundation that she has started for young children having to cope with the process of the NHS. These pictures are DetermoQueens of an event she has coming up that will describe DetermoQueen’s foundation a lot better than I ever could try.

🏫 The Circle Grows

When I first entered the room, there were about 40 people sitting in a little circle but by the end of me and DetermoQueen talking, the circle got to about 100 people and circled the entire room — and this was an old school hall, a certain school that a Wirral great went to! The one and only Paul O’Grady : )

He is very proud of every leader in that room today and with just cause, because it was such an honour for me to be around every one of you.

I say it lots but it’s fact: there I was, the little cheeky window cleaner sitting with what I class as royalty — and so many royalty in one circle at the same time all brainstorming for the same outcome: to help our Wirral community as proud Wirral leaders.

😮 “What Was This Meeting About?”

I wonder how many readers might be thinking “wow what is this freaking meeting about?” : )

Double Well — every so often there is a group of high-level charities and volunteers that all meet up and selected individuals get a chance to talk about their foundation/charity — or it could be to tell everyone about certain new procedures that we have on the Wirral that their foundation/charity will specialise in.

This was a little funny for me here because my first site did pretty well on Google so it started to get ranked very high on Google and it was other community help groups from Wirral that I was competing with for the number 1 spot! That’s how I found out about lots of the community helpers hehe.

🤝 Faces Behind the Websites

But today, when I was there and someone introduced themselves to the circle, they would always start with the name of their foundation — and about 3 times I said to myself “this is funny because for 2 years I’ve seen them on Google but now I see them face-to-face”.

That’s when DetermoQueen got up and spoke about her foundation. The passion that was shown during this talk was unmatched. The determination — hence her name — was amazing and really could be learned from.

Her personality was always amazing in school. It’s so fitting that DetermoQueen has chosen this path as she fits it so well with her welcoming, caring nature.#GreatCoincidence

✍️ My Cheeky Feedback

After hearing all the speakers talk, it was truly amazing and I took some priceless notes of places that the cheeky window cleaner called Oavo will be dropping in spontaneously for a face-to-face meeting about our Wirral community.#YouRule

Now for the grand finale — like it was written for me! It got to the end of the meeting and the speaker then said “has anyone got any feedback for the group about what has been spoken about today?” and I waited — must have been 3.5 seconds — and I put my hand up fast.

I never knew I would get this chance so I had to act on instinct and this is when I shine hehe.

🎤 The Mic Drop Moment

I knew what I wanted to talk about because I was thinking it all the way through everyone’s talk, and there were about 8 talks and all of them besides one were talking about my advice for them!

I never introduced myself here as working with Google because this was personal! I just got to the point straight away and said…

“Thanks for letting me appear here today with every amazing royal knight — and I know you want this to be positive and I will try, but in all talks besides Ruth’s today, all I have heard is website this and application that. Not once was face-to-face mentioned until Ruth passionately spoke up about it.”

I expressed to the group that at least 30% of the Wirral will never go on your website and lots will never even use the phone!

That’s when I told them I understand this is the new tech way, but I also told them that we live in a day and age when we can get a computer now to do a job for £400.00 per year — where it would cost £30,000.00 a year for a human to do the same job.

🌍 From Austerity to Prosperity

We have to remember here: this is the care section of our community — the face-to-face should matter. This is where we need the face-to-face most, is it not?

This is when I brought up austerity because I knew I could finish this on a good ending with the possivaty the speaker wanted : )

I told the knights that we are living in a period of 17 years of austerity. I expressed the world as a whole together has never had this much austerity ever in all economies.

I told them the philosophy of: however long austerity is, then that’s how much prosperity will rapidly follow. I said we have never had 17 years’ worth of austerity — so this means the prosperity that follows will also be something the world has never seen before.

And that’s when I had my mic drop moment and said…

“The prosperity I predict will be free food and housing for the world ha.”

I say this quite often if I can get away with it — so when we are living and eating from our free land then members might say “omg He Was Right ha”.

🙌 Reflections and the Road Ahead

I stuttered my way through a little bit of the speech when I was mentioning about the digital divide that is happening now — but afterwards I had to ask Open Doors and DetermoQueen how they think my little window cleaner speech went. And both said I done well.

I will be asking if I can get up to do a speech about Google and my efforts not using the phone or the internet to solve a community problem.

🎭 “The Knights of Wirral Fame” – A 7-Verse Limerick

There once was a window-clean knight,
Who found speaking to groups quite a fright.
But when Open Doors beckoned,
His confidence reckoned,
“Today I’ll set nerves out of sight!”

He entered a hall full of cheer,
Spied a face he’d not seen in years.
‘Twas DetermoQueen, smiling,
Old stories compiling—
School antics that brought happy tears!

A circle expanded and grew,
Around him were heroes he knew.
With royal pride,
Sat side-by-side—
Wirral knights, a community crew!

Then talks about websites commenced,
But Oavo’s thoughts soon condensed:
“These apps and sites chatter,
But does face-to-face matter?
This digital gap must be fenced!”

He rose, hand up high and cheeky,
His voice firm, though slightly squeaky.
“Less websites, more faces,
Real chats in real places—
A computer can’t smile when it’s creaky!”

Then austerity came to his mind,
Prosperity soon close behind.
He declared bold and clear,
Free homes drawing near—
“Mark my words, friends, we’ll all be fine!”

So Wirralites laughed and agreed,
As oavo planted this seed:
“Let’s not always tap phones,
But talk face-to-face tones—
‘Cause a window-clean cheeky must lead!”

Today also reminded me of a heading: “Wirral TED Talks” ; )

To Be Continued.

Served up with Royalty an’ Fate from oavo ; )
